My favorite car – The Ferrari F12 tdf

The Ferrari F12 tdf. The hardcore and light-weight version of the already awesome F12 berlinetta. The name tdf is a historical Ferrari name that was first used on the 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Tour de France. This car got its name by winning the legendary Tour de France car endurance race 4 times in a row. In 2015 Ferrari released a worthy spiritual successor to that historical racecar, the F12 tdf. This car features a massive 6.3 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces a maximum power output of 780 hp. All this power is linked to the lightning fast 7-speed dual clutch transmission and Ferrari‘s first take on rear wheel steering. The F12 tdf accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and goes on to a top speed of over 340 km/h. The Ferrari V12 will go down in the history as one of the best sounding engines of all times. The F12 tdf has a very specific tone, that releases emotions unlike any other car.

Visually the F12 tdf has a much more aggressive styling against its more classic grand touring brother, the F12 berlinetta. The front is very distinctive to the tdf and it just screams “get out of my f*cking way!“. The side profile however looks pretty similar to the F12 berlinetta. Only the big air inlets on the rear arches and the historical fuel filler cap makes it easy for you to distinguish the tdf from the berlinetta. On the rear a bigger ducktail spoiler and an extensive use of carbon fibre characterizes the track-focused version.

The Ferrari F12 tdf is limited to just 799 cars for the entire world. As it is the case with every limited-edition Ferrari, the car was already sold out even before the car was publicly launched. The factory MSRP was around 379.000 Euros but options were plentiful. Most cars were delivered with a pricetag of approximately 440.000 Euros. The first cars offered on the second hand market easily exceeded the 1 Million dollar mark. Right now on the European market you can get a good specced low mileage example for around 800.000 to 900.000 Euros. A Tailor Made car will probably go for 1.1 to 1.2 million dollars. This huge increase in value shows the big demand for Ferrari‘s limited edition cars.
