If a child gets the task to draw a sportscar, it will probably draw a Lamborghini. The low roofline, all the aggressive lines and the incredible exhaust notes, a Lamborghini represents a true exotic car and it creates drama unlike any other vehicle. And the Aventador is the purest form of that drama and automotive emotions.
The Lamborghini Aventador (LP700-4) was presented to the world during the 2011 Geneva Motorshow. The car features a massive 6.5 liter V12 engine which produced in the first form of the Aventador 700 hp and 720 NM of torque. Because of its four wheel drive system the supercar is able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds and it takes off to a topspeed of over 350 km/h. The first generation of the Aventador had a base price of around 330.000 Euros. Quite surprisingly the non-limited first generation Aventador held its value really well. Right now, almost 9 years after its debut, good condition examples trade for around 250.000 Euros. On the basis of the first-gen Aventador, the Roadster version, the Pirelli Edition and also the very limited Miura Homage Edition were later revealed.
The biggest talking point of the Aventador is its transmission. The car is equipped with a single-clutch ISR transmission which splits opinions in the automotive wold. The advantages of that transmission are the leight weight and the compact destign. However on the other side that transmission doesn‘t shift as fast and smooth as a dual clutch transmission. The gear shifts in the Lamborghini Aventador are very aggressive as they shake the entire car with every up or down shift. Lamborghini argues that there isn‘t enough space in the engine compartment to feature a dual clutch transmission, so every Aventador variant is equipped with that controversial ISR transmission. In my opinion that single clutch transmission is essential for the spirit of the Aventador. The Aventador is a Lamborghini in its truest form and owning one of those car is all about the drama the car creates. The way it looks is aggressive, the way it sounds is aggressive and the way it drives should be just as aggressive. The car isn‘t made to be a soft every day car that can go fast if you want to. The Aventador is a raging bull, hardly tamed to be street legal. It provides you the best and most dramatic driving experience possible once you have the courage to take it out. I‘m so happy that Lamborghini stays true to themselves and they practice their quote
We do not build supercars, we build Lamborghinis

Probably the most iconic car sound of our generation

The Lamborghini Aventador 50th Anniversary
On time for the Lamborghini‘s 50th anniversary in March 2017 the brand celebrated with a special version of their most popular car. The anniversary model is limited to 100 coupes and 100 roadsters for the entire world, each car has its own specific number. The car received an engine upgrade to 720 hp and it also features a specific bodykit which gives the front and the back an even more aggressive look. The current market value of that car is around 450.000 Euros. But as it is the case with every limited edition car, rare colors and exclusive options make the price substantially higher than that.

The Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster
In 2015 Lamborghini released the hardcore track-focused version of their V12 flagship car, the Aventador SV (LP 750-4).SV stands for Super Veloce wich means “super fast“. And super fast it is indeed! The car‘s 6.5l V12 now produces 750 horsepower. Additionally the car lost 50kg of weight against the first generation Aventador. The SV is equipped with a very aggressive bodykit that doesn’t only give it a brutal visual appearance but also immense track capability. The Lamborghini Aventador SV surprised the world with its performance on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The production car did a time of 6 minutes and 59 seconds which is around 25 seconds faster than the standard Aventador and just 2 seconds slower than the track record holder of that time, the Porsche 918 Spyder. The Coupe version of the SV is limited to 600 cars worldwide and later followed a Roadster Version with a Limitation to only 500 cars. The value of the Aventador SV held pretty well in the last years and the cars are valued between 400 and 600 thousand Euros, according to mileage, options and Roadster variant.

Lamborghini Aventador S
In late 2016 it was finally time for the Aventadors second life cycle in form of the Aventador S. The Aventador S succeeded the base Aventador model and goes under the model name LP 740-4. The 6.5l V12 in this car produces 740 hp and like all Aventador variants it still is all wheel drive. The key feature of the new base model was the implementation of a sophisticated four wheel steering unit. At lower speeds the rear wheels turn into the opposite direction of the front wheels, in order to shorten the wheelbase and to give it better handling capabilities. At higher speeds the rear wheels turn into the same direction, which increases highspeed stability. The new four wheel steering unit makes the Aventador much more usable within cities because of it‘s vastly improved turning circle. Later that year the Roadster variant of the Aventador S was announced. Both variants are currently still on production.

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ
As the Lamborghini Aventador SV represents the hardcore track-focused version of the “standard” Aventador, it was just a matter of time that there would be a racier variant of the Aventador S. In 2018 it was finally time and the long awaited successor for the immensely popular SV was born. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. The J is a historic letter for Lamborghini and was used during the 60s and 70s to mark their race cars. The last cars with the J in its name was the Miura SVJ. The Aventador SVJ is the modern interpretation of a full-blooded street legal race car. The engine was even further developed and now produces a maximum of 770 hp. The SVJ also features the all wheel steering system from the Aventador S but it pioneered the brand’s all new active aerodynamic system ALA 2.0 (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva). This active aerodynamic system adapts to different driving situations and environments in order to guarantee the best possible performance. For example the system is able the increase the downforce at the inside of a course and simultaneously reduce the drag on the outside. This system enables the Aventador SVJ to perform even better on racetracks. In 2018 Lamborghini again fascinated the world with another unbelievable lap time around the infamous Green-Hell (Nürburgring-Nordschleife). But this time it was record breaking! The SVJ did a time of 6:44:97 minutes which was three seconds faster than the Porsche GT2 RS. This record remains unbroken for a production car until today. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Coupe is limited to 900 cars. The obvious Roadster variant was announced in 2019 and 800 units will be made. The Coupe has a base price of 350.000 Euros and the Roadster starts at 387.000 Euros. On the second hand market the SVJ currently is listed for a premium of at least 50.000 Euros. But I strongly believe that car traders are going to face a huge problem with that car. Right now on the European market there are approximately 50 physical cars for sale and at least 10 pre-ordered ones. If this market trend will continue, I’m certain that the SVJ market is going to depreciate and a lot of speculators are going to loose money. In my opinion the last version of the already iconic Aventador should have been more limited than 1700 cars in total!

Apparently Lamborghini thought so too and they released a special version of the Aventador SVJ. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 edition resembles the year of the company’s foundation, 1963. There will be 63 cars in total and it separates itself from the “normal” SVJ through cosmetic changes. The cars feature a full visible carbon roof and engine compartment. Additionally they all come with a specific 63 design package that includes vinyls and dreamlines. Each of the 63 cars were only offered to Lamborghini very best customers. Ironically Lamborghini came out with the Roadster variant of the exclusive version of the limited edition Aventador SVJ. The Aventador SVJ Roadster 63 edition is again limited to 63 cars. I guess we could have seen that coming but admittedly there are now enough special variants of the Aventador platform? O
Or do you think that there will be even further variants of the Aventador? Just let me know in the comments!

Conclusive I can say that the Lamborghini Aventador is the brands most successful model to date. The car remains to be one of the most iconic cars of our generation and it is featured on countless rap videos, video games and car posters! This huge success resembles itself through the many different variants of the Aventador, because the demand seemed inexhaustible. Value wise I would recommend you to go with the Aventador SV Roadster. The build numbers are quite low and the price continuously rices since it’s introduction. This car also counts as the most aggressive Aventador variant and the sound expresses itself in its best form possible. I strongly believe that the value of that car will continuously appreciate in the following years, when people start craving for a non-robotorised raging-bull with a screaming V12 as its beating heart.
